Who controls the Media?

Though some people lead to believe that the media is controlled by a number cooperate giants, in fact it is various and most times, unrelated individuals that determine the direction in which the media world will take.
yes, as technology rises it is clear that big cooperation’s grasp hold of it to their benefit creating more and more media for the individual. One my argue that it is these cooperation’s that controls the media since they reflect into civilization. However, if civilization didn’t have a constant demand for the media, cooperation’s would go out of business. Cooperation’s or the direction of media are slaves to the individual (us). Cooperation’s constantly search for new technology, new media that will satisfy the customer. Their job is to make something that the individual might need. So in fact it is our constant demand for new and more improved technology that controls the outburst of media and
What’s also important to understand is that the individual demands constant information or awareness of what is going on. People are interested in the news because they are given information and visual evidence of what is going on around them. The people feel safe knowing what is going on. People constantly demand to know what is happening in the world and so the media gives the people what they want. If we didn’t get news daily people would panic and demand to find out themselves. For instance, sometimes the news doesn’t give all the information people want, thus the media has come up with devices that enable people to record their own evidence (mobile phone with built in camera’s).
people’s constant demand for communication also controls the media. If wireless internet wasn’t available today then there would be some other sort of technology that would enable humans to communicate. People want to feel connected.
the truth is, that not one soul things controls the media. It’s many small things all together that control the media. Yes, in my opinion the individual controls the media, or more clearly it’s direction in the future. If humans didn’t have needs then technology might have never been a big part of our world today. If the individual had no interest what so ever there wouldn’t be big cooperation’s, people would loose their jobs.

  1. Shani,

SOme of the ideas here are good (ex. that people create demand, and the media supplies it). The essay seems to jump around too much, though. I am having trouble getting an ideas for a main point here. I think you should think about what your controlling idea will be, and use details and examples that support that - and only that. This will help gove your response more clarity.

  2. Although you at first you looked at it with a literal sense, claiming that corporate giants own the media, you did mention individuals also control the media. I completely agree with you in that sense. Also, I think you mentioned an important ida of how we the society demand instant news through media sources. I really found this post interesting, as you mention several different ideas.
